MY STORY

A slice of fresh pineapple changed my life.

I grew up on tv tray dinners and canned foods. Spices included salt and pepper. I was in high school when I started joining my best friend’s family for their adventurous meals inspired by their years in foreign service. One night, they served fresh pineapple for dessert. I knew this fruit to be chewy and flavorless. I’d never had it outside of a canned fruit cocktail! The pineapple piqued my curiosity–we’re eating this for dessert?! I’d never eaten anything so beautiful. The pineapple blew my mind and my senses, catalyzing my hunger for the richness and beauty of the physical world. . It was the gateway to an expanded consciousness.

Since then, I needed to see how others expressed themselves through food, flavor, composition, and ritual. I’ve reveled in the beauty of our sensory experiences ever since, whether through travel, art, placemaking…and with The Why Creative, savoring the pieces of telling a rich brand story through conceptual and transition design. I want to know the textures, flavors, color palettes, transformations that led to you right here, to this business right here, to this place right here. Nothing in your work or story lacks depth; it lacks only our sensory empathy to perceive it. And I want to explore the depths with you and bring the spirit of what you do forward.
